Our mission is to provide students of all levels with more than just dance classes, but a unique experience in which the student can grow both mentally and physically as a dancer. Our instructor, Yolanda Ku'uipo Taufa'asau-Vincent has a wealth of experience in dancing, teaching, and performing various styles and disciplines.

Here at Tamali'i, we not only teach the art of Polynesian dance but, teach the essence of the Polynesian culture.  It is imperative to instill a sense of pride from where the great people of Polynesia are from and about. Come be a part of our family!

Aunty Yolanda

Instructor/Choreographer

Raised as a child in Makaha and Kapolei, O'ahu, Yolanda Ku'uipo Taufa'asau-Vincent began dancing at the age of two.  First learning all Polynesian dances from Mrs. Boehner of Makakilo then advancing to Aunty Joan Lindsey of Ewa Beach and Waipahu studios where her hula thrived.  Aunty Joanie then encouraged her to move to Master Kumu and Composer Uncle John Pi'ilani Watkins.  Writer of many songs like Aloha wau ia 'oe, Green Rose Hula, Waikaloa and so much more, he also specialized in other Polynesian dances where Yolanda performed at venues such as Sea Life Park and with composers like Melveen Leed. Blessed with living a "lifetime" of experience early in childhood, she moved to the Bay Area where she danced with Aunty Sybil Pruett of Ku'uipo Ohana then Aunty Ehulani Lum of Kaulana Na Pua.  It was a delightful surprise to find out that both Aunty Ehu and Aunty Joanie were cousins.  Yolanda is so grateful for awesome kumus who she got to experience Merrie Monarch with.  Yolanda then joined the US Navy and met her husband, Wade Vincent.  Upon returning to the Bay Area and Kaulana Na Pua under the direction of daughter Gordean Lum-Villiados, Yolanda assisted teaching classes before gaining her blessings to begin her own dance company, Tamali'i.  Yolanda has been blessed in her journey with Tamali'i.  Many masters and teachers have been gracious in sharing with her resulting in a history of awards and achievements but her most rewarding accomplishment is the positive and loving relationships she has with her students and families.
